The T-Bar Hut is a prime
example of sustainable design. At over 11,000 feet in elevation,
this structure is one of the highest in North America. Specific
design solutions involving the solidity of construction and resistance
to harsh elements were incorporated to build a shelter that will
last many generations. Home to Ski Patrol and shivering skiers,
it has proven to perform as designed, providing a warm and comfortable
spot to readjust to the climate.

Construction lasted two years
with supplies being brought up only during winter months via
Snowcats. Thereby minimizing impact on the fragile high alpine
environment. Local materials were used in an effort to emulate
the surrounding mountain landscape. Heavy timbers and rough stone
provide the makeup of the chalet perched at the top of Breckenridge
Ski Area.
